Hot Topic Series: A Panel of Social Media Experts

What a great turn out! #MeetMixBizX, BizX’s first hot topic event of 2015, went off without a hitch Wednesday night at Lunchbox Laboratory in Bellevue.

The evening’s denouement provided everyone in attendance with some valuable answers for some of those nagging social media questions. There were some amazing questions asked and some good insights shared.

“You can have heavily targeted advertising and it can be to grow your [social media] pages engagement or it can be to direct traffic back to the purchase portal for your website. On Facebook now a days, you can target those ads to extremely specific demographics and locations. You can even target people who recently made online purchases or who recently downloaded aps. All of those things, down to the zip code in terms of geography. It’s really amazing.” - Matt Cail

It’s wrong to believe that the people you are looking at are not on Facebook. Even when it comes to B2B

“Everyone’s on Facebook…There are 7 billion people on this planet. The other day, 1 billion people logged onto Facebook, on the same day, at the same time - everyone’s there. It’s almost an advantage to target that older demographic because they generally have less people than then typical 25 year old with a million different friends…It’s wrong to believe that the people you are looking at are not on Facebook. Even when it comes to B2B, B2B’s aren’t an amorphous entity, people work at B2Bs.” - Oscar Dahl

“There are so many different ways that you can target people, it’s kind of scary actually. That’s why it’s important sometimes to at least consult with an expert. Most people start a business because they are really good at something. Unfortunately as a small or medium sized business owner, you are expected to be an expert at everything, payroll, accounting, social media, digital marketing, it is time consuming and impossible to do.” - Alicia Shefchik

The Event Lab in Bellevue

Lunchbox Laboratory’s Event Lab was the perfect setting for this social media discussion. The full bar kept everyone's thirst at bay while the appetizers where a perfect accent to the conversations and networking.

If you haven't tried the Buff Poppers, Gavacho Tachos or Falafel Balls, then you are missing out. The appetizers are every bit as good as their legendary burgers.

Be on the lookout for more events coming with several already in the works. The End of Summer Party in the Bay Area is coming up on September 23rd at Mad Oak. Washington has two more events coming down the pipeline in October with an event at Lunchbox Laboratory in Seattle on October 14th. The #MeetMixBizX event in Seattle will focus on digital marketing, so please come with questions! We are also working out the final details for another event, also in October, that will be taking place at Mama Stortini’s in Kent.
