The newest award program sponsored by the Puget Sound Business Journal, a TechFlash sister publication, honors innovative and inspirational companies headquartered east of Lake Washington.
The program, the Eastside Fastest-Growing Private Companies award, grew out of a broader program started in 1995: the 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in Washington, which was the Business Journal’s very first award program.
That first list celebrated the year-over-year revenue growth of creative, innovative companies from Attachmate to Zedco Corp.
Throughout the years, Stockpot Soups, Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Multiple Zones International, Cutter & Buck, General Microsystems, Clarisonic, BizXchange Xtreme Consulting Group Inc., and Talyst have all made the list.
Besides creativity and innovation, those companies all have one thing in common: At the time they debuted on the list, they all were headquartered on the Eastside.
More and more, the statewide list comprises companies that hail from Eastside communities, and many of them are tech companies.
To that end, last year the Business Journal launched this new award program to honor the Eastside Fastest-Growing Private Companies. The response to our survey was great then, and even greater this year.
The list revealing company rankings, which are based on revenue growth between 2009 and 2011, will appear in the July 20 issue of the Business Journal. To qualify for the list, a company needed to have at least $500,000 in revenue each year since 2009.
The Eastside Fastest Growing Private Companies also are automatically entered in the 2011 statewide 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies competition.
