Transform Your Productivity In 14 Days

March 21, 2016 | Written by Jen Park

Every morning I arrive at work ready to go. Today's the day! I'm going to accomplish everything on my list. Sound like real life? Probably not.

Ten hours can go by and you feel like you've only accomplished a few things, if you can even remember what you did during the day. How can we change this? Through mindfulness.

You can train your brain to focus better by incorporating mindfulness exercises throughout the day. Try these for 14 days and you should see a dramatic difference:

1. When you first wake up spend 2 minutes simply noticing your breath. As the day's worries start to enter your mind, ignore them and focus on your breathing.

2. When you get to work, take 10 minutes at your desk or in your car to close your eyes, relax, sit upright, and focus on your breath. Enjoy these minutes!

3. Avoid checking emails first thing in the morning. Answering emails is addicting because it gives us a small high. We feel like we're accomlishing something, but ultimately it's not much.

4. Take 2 minutes before a meeting to practice mindfulness. This will help you stay focused and sharp.

5. For 10 minutes of your commute home, turn off your phone, shut off the radio, and simply be. This will help you transition to being focused at home.

All of these will lead to better productivity, an increase in creativity, and decrease mistakes. Read more here from Harvard Business Review.
