“I’m glad I took a chance on BizX and now I would not have it any other way.”
The Law Offices of Peter Stanwyck joined BizXchange in 2002, when BizX was starting in Northern California, as its first attorney member. Except for an occasional direct trade with a few clients, Stanwyck had no experience with a trade exchange like BizX. “I was skeptical at first that BizX would work for me,” Stanwyck said. “But then I met Chris Haddawy, liked and trusted him and took a chance on an approach that was unfamiliar, new and different.”
For more than 30 years, Stanwyck’s law office has primarily served the legal needs of small businesses and professionals with a broad range of issues: forming entities, negotiating contracts, commercial leases, employee and independent contractor issues, buying and selling businesses, trademarks, business disputes and the like. It seemed like a natural fit for Stanwyck as many BizX members fall into the small business category and from time to time require the types of legal services he provides. Stanwyck thinks that most members like him are especially grateful that necessary business services and products can be fulfilled by quality professionals and vendors on BizX. “If small businesses are able to receive quality legal services and pay for them with BizX dollars that gives me a real edge when someone is looking for a lawyer,” Stanwyck said.
Stanwyck definitely looks for opportunities to spend BizX dollars on his business and has used it for his web site (for which he said Moonrise Productions did a fantastic job), for IT services, for used office equipment and for copying. But it is not all business either, Stanwyck has used BizX to go to Cancun, to numerous restaurants (Stanwyck recommends his client, Montclair Bistro and adds that he has had great meals at numerous BizX member restaurants), for massage and Pilates, tickets to Warriors and Raiders games. He even purchased his eye glasses on BizX (Stanwyck recommends The Focal Point).
Stanwyck has also found value in the networking opportunities through BizX and the successful business relationships they create. Just recently his son returned from college with a need for serious dental work and his regular dentist was not available on short notice. Stanwyck called Dr. Loev who he had met a few weeks earlier at a BizX MiXer and voila, next day, problem solved. “When I met Dr. Loev, him and I had an instant rapport,” Stanwyck said. “We just clicked as people.”
Stanwyck is glad he took the chance on BizX and now would not have it any other way.
