"It's a win-win-win thing."
Soon after the restaurant opened, Slack was approached by BizXchange. As an experienced member of the restaurant business, Slack had bartered for common maintenance services such as plumbing and refrigeration, so the idea of a barter exchange was appealing.
He found that maintenance services were just the beginning. Since joining BizXchange in October of 2004, The Cellar Bistro has bartered meals and empty tables for printing, plumbing, dental work for employees, tool rentals, electrical service and even a brand new awning. The purchases Slack appreciates most are for advertising that brings in new cash customers.
"Trading for marketing made total sense," said Slack. "We use it for a whole marketing budget."
Cashless purchases are only half of the BizX solution, Slack says his best experience so far has been the new clientele BizX has provided. "It keeps us really busy during the Holiday months with company parties," said Slack. Those parties are especially beneficial because each one exposes 20 new people to the restaurant, which generates great word of mouth advertising.
The Cellar Bistro has used BizX to maintain cash flow and gain exposure. "I've been very pleased with the relationships we've established and the service we've received," said Slack. "It's a win-win-win thing."
